SPREZZATURA SPOTLIGHT: JESS BLANCH, RUSSH MAGAZINE
This month we launch our new Sprezzatura Spotlight series, where we speak to some of the country’s leading experts in style, design and fashion on all things sprezzatura. This month we speak to Jess Blanch, Editor of RUSSH Magazine.
1. What’s your most treasured item in your wardrobe?
A YSL Smoking Jacket. It’s one of the few pieces I wear with restraint knowing that I can’t ever truly replace it.
2. Who is your style icon?
Steve McQueen. He’s almost entirely responsible for my love of blue denim.
3. What makes someone stylish in your eyes?
Someone who is unafraid of who they are and what they do. Their style stays the same wherever they go. I love the way our farmers dress in their RM Williams, jeans and cotton shirts. They are dressed for a purpose and they really own it.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
Classic but lazy.
5. What was your biggest fashion faux pas?
I make them all the time. The latest was my Celine ‘furkenstocks’. They look ridiculous but they humour me.
6. What is your favourite Italian fashion brand?
I can’t say a favourite but I do have a special connection with Gucci. I spent a few hours in their world for the opening of their Museum in Florence and it was a true Renaissance experience I will never forget. I also deeply respect the film foundation they have formed withMartin Scorsese to restore the Italian greats such as La Dolce Vita.
7. Who epitomises sprezzatura to you?
The person who is not afraid to be seen in their pyjamas.
