SPREZZATURA SPOTLIGHT: ELLE HALLIWELL
This month for our Sprezzatura Spotlight series, we speak with Elle Halliwell, Entertainment and Fashion Columnist – The Daily and Sunday Telegraph on all things style and fashion.
1. What’s your most treasured item in your wardrobe?
Probably the first pair of designer shoes I ever bought. They’re printed Lanvin pumps which I bought years ago. They’re on their last legs but I refuse to part with them.
2. Who is your style icon?
Diane Kruger. She always looks polished and elegant whether she’s walking down a street or attending a red carpet event.
3. What makes someone stylish in your eyes?
Someone who seems at ease and confident with what they’re wearing, whatever it is. Fashion should make you happy, not self-conscious.
4. How would you describe your personal style?
It’s constantly evolving but I tend to favour luxe basics from Alexander Wang and Acne and statement accessories. It also suits my wallet.
5. What was your biggest fashion faux pas?
Ill-fitting clothing. It’s always safe to err on the larger size and don’t underestimate the importance of a good tailor.
6. What is your favourite Italian fashion brand?
I love Marni for its unique prints and jewellery, but in terms of designers I adore Riccardo Tisci. Yes, he designs for Givenchy but he’s a born and bred Italian!
7. Who epitomises sprezzatura to you?
Kate Moss. She’s the master of effortless style.
