ICED COFFEE

by Stefano Manfredi

Traditionally, Italians enjoy a Caffé Shakerato (translating to ‘coffee shaken’) as an elegant and simple cold summer time drink. It is a simple beverage using freshly ground espresso and shaken over ice and poured into a martini glass. The shaking action emulsifies the ingredients making it taste creamy and forming a thick layer of froth without the use of milk.

METHOD

  1. Combine ¾ cup of freshly-brewed Espresso di Manfredi Classico coffee

  2. Using a metal cocktail mixer, fill half the mixer with small ice cubes

  3. Add coffee into mixer and shake vigorously for a full 30 seconds

  4. Strain espresso into martini glass

  5. Enjoy!

Of course, some may prefer a sweetened version of the traditional iced coffee. We recommend -

  • Caffé Latte Shakerato - made as above, adding milk to taste before shaking

  • Caffé Freddo alla Vaniglia - made as above but sweetened with vanilla syrup before shaking
