Giveaway: An afternoon of Intimate Letters at The Sydney Opera House
The Australian Chamber Orchestra is giving two lucky Espresso di Manfredi fans the chance to win a double pass each to see Intimate Letters on Sunday 24 August, 2pm at the Sydney Opera House.
Australian Chamber Orchestra joins hands with fellow performing arts company Bell Shakespeare to perform Janaceks Intimate Letters and Smetana’s From My Life, sharing the stage with esteemed actors who give life to the stories which inspired the music.
The theatrical staging of Janáček’s first quartet, the Kreutzer Sonata, received glowing reviews and it is exciting to give his second quartet Intimate Letters the same treatment, performing an arrangement for string orchestra under the direction of London Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Gordan Nikolic.
Inspired by more than 700 passionate letters written among Janacek and his much younger married muse, Intimate Letters discover their overwhelming and infatuated love.
Bell Shakespeare is presenting a new guest artist, working with the ACO for the first time, Gordan Nikolic is a well-known leader and chamber musician. He is going to be a guest Director and Violin, London Symphony Orchestra.
To be in the running to win, post an answer in twenty five (25) words or less on the Espresso di Manfredi Facebook page here to the question what celebrated musician or composer epitomises the term sprezzatura and why? Entries close midnight Sunday 17th August.
