In May, Balla played host to an intimate Espresso di Manfredi coffee flavour masterclass, celebrating the unique collaboration between Stefano Manfredi and Wayne Archer.
Media attendees from leading Australian publications were taken through a sensory taste workshop to understand the skills required for creating the perfect blend of coffee. Highlighting each blend within the Espresso di Manfredi family, Stefano the taste master and Wayne the master roaster shared their understandings of the palate, taste and smell and the three basic components of each coffee;
A sweetly floral coffee with assertive acidity, Chiaro is lighter in style designed for after dinner. High-grown washed arabicas from Papua New Guinea, South America, East Africa and Asia with hints of blackberry and wine-toned fruit. Complex with a clean long finish.
A blend of high-quality arabicas from South America and a touch of fine robustas from Asia. A bold, complex coffee with full body, balanced fruit and acid tones and a long lingering dark chocolate finish. The perfect cup to start your day.
A blend of Sumatra, East African, South American and Asian arabicas. Sweet pungent aromas of aromatic wood spices, molasses and raisins. A strong yet refined coffee for the bold.
Following this, guests were treated to traditional southern Italian sweets including Crostata di more (blackberry tart), raisin cantucci (biscuits) and chocolate cappuccinos matching the flavour of each coffee blend. Guests then enjoyed breakfast with parmesan and spinach frittatas with cured ocean trout, followed by fresh fruit salad with buffalo ricotta and Espresso di Manfredi coffees.
Mimicking the successful event, Stefano Manfredi and Wayne Archer will hold a consumer flavour master class at Bells at Killcare in August. Keep an eye out on the Espresso di Manfredi Facebook page for more information in the coming months: Espresso di Manfredi Facebook
